KapreThe Kapre is a popular creature for its tall height and penchant for cigars.
It is a tall being with a height the same as the tree he stands beside. It has big eyes size of a saucer and a flat nose. They have big ears and big mouth with thick lips. It has a dark complexion with a rough and hairy skin and foul odor like that of a goat. Kapres would normally be seen sitting on tree branches especially Balete trees while smoking and would frighten the people passing by. They can also cause sickness to people using their magical powers. Kapres also possess treasures that people try to acquire. The people would try to spot a Kapre and wait for it to sleep where they would tie a rope around his neck then the other end is to be tied around a tree. Next morning, the other end of the rope will be under a tree. They would then dig it and a jar of gold will be found. |
